This blog post is long over due. We recently traveled to Southern California for a nice extended weekend in May. We headed down Friday, May 14 and returned on Wednesday, May 19. It was our first long car ride as a family of four. The children did amazing. We couldn't have been prouder. We really only had to stop two times both coming and going. The great thing is that both stops were usually perfectly timed with eating and a nice little break for Evan to get out some energy. Here we are during our first stop at McDonald's.
The hardest part of each drive was the last hour. On our way to Southern California, this hour was most memorable. We were almost out of gas, Evan got carsick and threw up, and Evie was in a non-stop crying mode. However, one hour of insanity wasn't too bad, considering it was an eight hour plus trip. :)
During our visit we were fortunate to see lots of friends. Our first stop was to visit the Bradley Family in their new home in Costa Mesa. It was wonderful catching up. We had hoped to see their daughter Lena, but unfortunately she wasn't feeling well and was resting during our stay. Nevertheless, we had a fabulous time with her parents and can't wait to catch up with Lena during the summer on our WOFOFF trip. :)
Later that afternoon we got to reunite with our old Life Group from Rock Harbor. Dan and Melissa Donovan hosted the event at their place around the pool. It was so nice to see everyone and have good food and fellowship. Below is a picture with Dan, Jim and Evie and Phillip.
Here is the family with the amazing Amanda! :)
Here are the girls, me and Evie with Jeane and Kahanah.
Pictured together below are the fab four, Amanda and Eric and Rachel and Roy.
We also got to see the beautiful Sarah and her lovely friend.
Last, but not least is a picture with Melissa and her new son, Joshua, with Evan and me. )
Thank you Life Group for an amazing afternoon and dinner! We love you all and miss you so much.
