39 Weeks

Today I am officially 39 weeks. It is pretty hard to believe. Jim and I are anxiously awaiting our little one and are looking forward to his arrival any day.

I even had fun getting my toes done for the big event! I thought this might encourage him to come out a little faster. Hee hee :)

Jim has also been getting all prepped doing some final studying.

We will keep you posted! :)

Out of Town Visitors

This past week we were able to see some very special people. The first visit took place on Sunday, July 20. Good friends, Jill and Glenn were visiting all the way from Arkansas, we had a delicious dinner at Claim Jumpers and then visited with her sister, Judy, at her home. It was so much fun being able to catch up and to hear about all of their exciting Arkansas adventures, from Hurricanes to the three hour trips to the airport, as well as many fun baby stories. Both of them presented us with this beautiful crocheted blanket for Baby Knight. We love it and can't wait to wrap our little boy in such a special memento.

Then on Wednesday, we were visited by the lovely Catherine. Who recently moved to Ohio with her new husband, Dan. It was great to catch up with her and hear about married life and living in the mid-west. She also brought a very special treat for Baby Knight, displayed below. It was so Catherine from remembering that of course airplanes and helicopters are way cool, to incorporating the ever popular camo shorts. Thanks darling!

CSULB Baby Shower

On July 18 my fabulous co-workers threw me and Baby Knight a baby shower to remember! It was such a special time. Party planners included both Jackie and Sally. Thank you both so much!

This picture features me with Julie, Mei and Jim participating in the festivities.

Here Gay, Coleen, Rachel, and Jackie are chatting during the event. With Sally and Janet in the background. Good times!

Pictured below is the adorable cake. Not only was it super cute it was scrumptious too.

There was also some other delicious food pictured below. Here you can see Elva, Janice, and Jim getting a sampling.

The party would not have been the same without some kind of baby game. Jackie lead the group in an enjoyable activity,"They named their Child WHAT?????" The winner pretty much by a landslide, getting almost every answer correct was Imogen- way to go girl! Another fun game that took place at the party was having everyone guess the time when Baby Knight would be born. This winner is TBD. Good luck friends. :)

Then it was present time. The generosity was overwhelming. Jim and I can't thank you all enough for your support and kindness during this exciting time. Pictured below our little guy was given some adorable CSULB gear from Gay; Jennie who was unable to attend the event also got us some super cute Beach gear too! Gotta love it! Thank you both and Go Beach!

Also, one of the most exciting parts of present opening was when I was able to open one of the group gifts- The Breast Pump by Medela! Yeah!!!

The party was more fun that I could have imagined and it truly felt like such a celebration of our soon to be little boy. Thank you so much to all of the people who came to event and those unable to attend, and sent their best wishes and love! We feel so blessed! To see more pictures of the festivities click here. A special thanks to Pawan and Helga for helping to take pictures. :)

Co-ed Baby Shower

On July 12 our wonderful friends from LifeGroup threw us a co-ed shower. The power team included the beautiful women below from left to right Sarah, Kimberly (made the cake), Lily, and Amanda.

This is a picture of the whole gang in attendance, from the top row featuring me and Jim and then going left to right are Amanda, Lily, Shaun, Christie. Moving down to the next row you have Sarah, Dan, Melissa, Matt, Amy, Ben, Kahanah, Phillip and Jenae. The bottom row features Rachel, Kimberly and Corey.

The party was phenomenal and included scrumptious food and action packed activities. From left to right Matt, Amy and Jim enjoy some of the delicacies.

After everyone filled their bellies the games began. The first had the group guessing how big I was around the belly. Here, Christie is measuring her piece with the true measurement of my width that Sarah is holding.

While Christie was close along with others, the official winners were Ben and Melissa who tied. Way to go guys! :)

After this game we played a volunteer based activity where four pairs had to compete in who could drink the baby bottle the fastest. Amanda even got some great video footage of the game. While a great effort was made by all of the guys the winner was Corey, assisted by Kimberly! You guys rock! :)

Then we played hot potato with the adorable baby spud featured below that Sarah and Rachel are proudly showing off. Amanda got him all dressed up in this little outfit.

You can see the action below in this picture with some of the remaining players. It was a tough competition but Shaun prevailed as the winner.

Then the last game of the day was how to practice reading to your child. However, the trick was you had to read in a special accent or voice, and to make it more challenging we had to read from the Dr. Seus Book, Oh Say Can You Say.

Matt did a great job on this game and won the grand prize. He is a man of many talents. Awesome job Matt!

Then Jim and I opened up gifts for our little one. This is one of the adorable outfits we got below. Thank you Kimberly and Corey for this cute little number. Notice the airplane. So fun! :)

Then it was cake time. Kimberly crafted this yummy ice cream cookie cake with adorable baby candles. It was the best.

The day was soooooo enjoyable. Jim and I felt loved and blessed by everyone. One of the best parts of the event was being lifted up in prayer. Thank you again to all of our amazing friends! We love you!

Nine months...he is coming soon!

We are in the final month; tomorrow I will be officially 38 weeks. Below is a picture of me from this past weekend, 37 weeks. It is really hard to believe and so very exciting. The doctor told us last Wednesday that it looks like he could come early! We will find out more this Thursday at our next appointment. Overall, still feeling well. My feet have not been getting as swollen which is nice. Sleeping is still a challenge and I wake up several times. Yet, all in all feeling well and looking forward to meeting our angel!

Riverside Shower hosted by Grandma Knight and Aunt Alison

On July 5th we were blessed by a fantastic family co-ed shower in Riverside at Mimi's Restaurant hosted by Jim's mom and sister (Grandma Knight and Aunt Alison). It was so much fun! Below are the four of us with the gorgeous bouquet for me and Baby Knight.

During the party we were all sashed up with our new titles, "Future Grandma" and "Mom to Be." You can see us modeling them below.

At the party from left to right were Becky, Andrew, Brandon, Meghan, Jim, Kim, Alison, Carolyn, Kathy, Emma, Robert, Debbie and Bob (what a fine looking group). :)

Alison was in charge of the games and did a wonderful job. Everyone was able to get in on the fun playing Pictionary. All the clues were either a movie or song with the word "baby" in them. Bob is pictured below with his masterpiece.

Here are Aunt Kathy and Emma, proudly displaying their artwork too. They had "Baby Got Back." The popular song from the 90's. Nice job! This game finished with a tie; both Becky and Debbie were the winners. They were awarded the beautiful flower centerpieces, courtesy of Grandma Knight.

The final game of the day involved a tiny little present that had to be passed around the table while the music played; when it stopped whoever it landed on had to unwrap one layer. Pictured below is Meghan unwrapping a layer. Aunt Kathy won this game- great job!

Then the spoiling of Baby Knight began as Jim and I began to open up the gifts for our son. The best part is we didn't have to do it alone. We had two very helpful aides in the process, Emma and Robert, who were key to the unwrapping process. Thank you both for making the job a lot easier. We couldn't have done it without you. You can see them in the picture below in action. :) So cute!

Then for the finale, the cake and ice cream! Delicious! It was a perfect end to a fantastic party. Thank you everyone for such a special day! We love you!!!

OB Education

Jim and I completed our OB Education classes and feel much more prepared for the exciting delivery of our son. We were impressed by the information provided in each class. There were four offered and we decided to take them all just to be on the safe side. :) Our first class was Baby Basics (which talked about how to get The Happiest Baby on the Block based on a book by Dr. Harvey Karpusing who teaches how to sooth and calm your crying baby using the "5 S's"), our next class was Breastfeeding, this was followed by the Prepared Childbirth Class (a three session experience), and lastly the Baby Saver Class (which taught you CPR, the Heimlich, etc.). All in all we are glad we took each one and thank the staff at Hoag Hospital for a great education.

NorCal Baby Shower hosted by Mom and Grandma

On Saturday, June 28, my Mom and Grandma hosted a fabulous baby shower for me and our little guy at my Grandma's house in Northern California. It was so much fun and such a treat to be able to see family and friends from the area.

We played lots of fun games, all organized by my mom, "The Game Wizard!" :) Below are some pictures of the action. You will see Kim, Carol, Alison and Debra trying to come up with something related to babies for all 26 letters of the alphabet. Our winner on this game was super star Stephanie, pictured down below in another shot. Way to go Stephanie! :)

This next picture is a little taste of "Stick the pacifier on the baby." My mom gave Jana a good twirl and then directed her to the wall.

The following game, had the group doing charades. Here Tammy is acting out changing a stinky diaper. She was awesome! However, the winner was Jeri, who did a phenomenal impression of delivering a baby. In this picture from left to right is Alison, Debra, Elizabeth, Tammy, me and Deb.

Pictured below are my good friends Natalie and Carrie, looking beautiful!

This picture features more fabulous friends, Jennifer and her daughter Brittney, Stephanie and me.

After all the games we got the chance to eat some delicious cake (vanilla and strawberries). I was able to do the honors and cut the pieces for the guests.

Then it was present time, our family was blessed with so much love and generosity. Below is a picture of the gorgeous and adorable quilt Kimberly made for our little boy! Thank you so much- what a treasure! You can click here to see more pictures of the festivities.

However, here are a few more highlights. At the party was our youngest guest, new baby Mabel, Elizabeth's daughter. She did a great job and it was so fun to see her in person.

Also, in attendance at the shower were the very special, soon-to-be Aunts, Jim's sister, Alison and my brother's new wife, Debra!

We also got to visit with GrandDeb and Pops Knight. Deb made this adorable baby sock bouquet. It was just the cutest thing and will be so much fun to have in the babies room!

Thank you again family and friends for an amazing time! We love you all very much!!!

Eight months!

Time continues to go by and our little "Knight" is growing and growing as you can see in these pictures. Jim and I can't wait until the big day! Eight months has provided some memorable milestones. At this point sleep is definitely getting harder with frequent trips to the bathroom and we get lots of fun movements throughout the day too. As some friends know he does tend to be a little shy and get stage fright when pointed out. :) However, he does enjoy all the love and attention and appears to be a very happy little guy. Other fun eight month activities include, slower walking, it is harder to bend over, and Tums have become a good friend (helping with the heartburn). Oh yes and I forgot to mention the swollen feet and ankles or as I like to call them cankles. Not many of my shoes fit these days either. :) But, I wouldn't change any of it! Okay maybe...but it is all so worth it!!! As I write this we are soon approaching nine months on Tuesday so stay tuned for more.
