Dave's Pumpkin Patch

Our family visited for the first time this year Dave's Pumpkin Farm in West Sacramento on Saturday, October 6.  We found out about the farm from LivingSocial who had a special deal for only $27 that included family admission for four to Dave's Pumpkin Patch (Cornival and Cornmaze, Unlimited Hay Rides, and Two Pony Rides.  We had the best time and went with our good friends the Cunningham family pictured below.
First thing we did at Dave's was experience the new feature at the patch, "The Jumping Pillow."  The kids had the best time; here they are in action below.
After all the jumping fun we next headed over to have the kids all do the pony rides.  Now this was a pretty sweet ride.  They actually walked them in a big circle around the patch.  You can see them headed out on the journey in the below picture.

Here are some close up shots of the kids on their horses with the guides..
Here is a final picture of Evan posing on his horse.  We were so proud of both Evan and Evie this was their first time on a pony.
Next our group explored the Hay Maze.
It wasn't too hard for the adults.  They had a little bit of an advantage being taller than the haystacks.
After it was time to climb the giant Hay Pyramid.

Then it was fun in the Corn Box.
Followed by dress up time at Pumpkin Princess Castle.
The kids all then got to experience story time from the Pumpkin Princess herself.

We also visited the goats and the pig races.  Funny story about the pig races, apparently, they just got the pigs the day before we visited the pumpkin patch and they were still in training.  The trainer explained that none of them really understood the concept of the race yet and that Oreo's are very good, and that they would be rewarded a special cookie if they were first in the race.

Can't forget to post an adorable picture of our littlest pumpkin Elaine who was having a jolly time that day too.
We concluded the day with some lunch from Dave's Snack Shack and then the kids did a final climb on one more Hay Pyramid, this was slightly smaller.

We took a Hay Ride around the Patch.

Then last but certainly not least we headed into the pumpkin patch to find our pumpkins.  Dave's provided us the with the wagons below.  The kids were loving them.
Evan loved searching for pumpkins.
He found a pumpkin for everyone in the family, with Evie's help of course.

We had two very tired kiddos at the end of the day.  Just look at them in the wagon below with the pumpkins.  Both are in a pumpkin like trance.
It was a fun day for everyone.  Thanks Dave and LivingSocial!
