First Doctor's Appointments

Evan went to the doctor for the first time on Monday, August 11. It was a good visit. The same doctor that circumcised Evan at the hospital was the doctor we visited on Monday. It wasn't the original pediatrician we had decided on, however, she worked at the same practice. We really liked the doctor we met at the hospital and have decided to switch to her. She does a fantastic job of explaining everything and really cares for our little one. Here we are in the office for the first time. Evan did great. At this appointment he was a little low in weight, at only 6 pounds. The doctor wanted us to consider supplementing him with some formula to make sure he gets enough food at this stage as my milk was still coming in. We said that wasn't a problem and wanted to do what was best for our baby. She gave us some formula samples, which was fantastic because we didn't have to rush out and buy anything, not to mention that Evan already tested the product in the office. He seemed to respond positively and ate it all up. The plan was to go again this Wednesday to the doctor to see how his weight was progressing.

We returned to the doctor on Wednesday, August 13 and Evan had gained some awesome weight now topping the scales at 6 pounds 8 ounces; phenomenal progress in such a short period of time (1/2 pound in 2 days)! The doctor was really proud. She requested we do one more check the following week.
Our final weight check took place Wednesday, August 20 and the doctor said Evan was doing so well. At this appointment he weighed a whopping 7 pounds 1 ounce. Way to go our good little eater!

Now we don't go back to the doctor until October, when Evan will be getting a few vaccines. I am sure he can't wait for the fun in store for him at that appointment.
