Swim Lessons

We just completed swim lessons for this year.  We were trying to get them in before the new baby comes. :)  Both kids got to participate this summer.  It was awesome.  We did a similar thing that we did last year.  We joined up with friends and had eight days of 20 minute private lessons.  We used another teacher this year, because last year's teacher had her first baby.  This teacher was actually the sister-in-law of one of our good friends, Pam, who also ended up doing the lessons with us.

Miss. Karson was the kid's teacher and Evan and Evie just loved her.  This year they also got to partner with their buds for their lessons, which they also thought was super cool!  Evan got to do lessons with Cameron and Evie got to do lessons with Ariel.  They had the best time.

Here they are at graduation with their swim buddies and Miss. Karson.  They got these awesome certificates and a Push-Up Pop, which the kids both gave away too friends (they are not huge fans of sherbet ice cream). :)

The boys...
 The girls...
Here are some other memorable moments throughout the two weeks, June 11-15 and 18-20.  Warning there are lots of pictures; it was hard to narrow them down. :)

Day 1
Learning one of the proper swim strokes and its name, Scoopers (just like scooping ice cream- they loved this.)  We had to practice keeping Evan's fingers together that night, but he eventually got it. :)
Putting his face in the water just slightly on Day 1.  He was very brave no tears or anything.
Look how proud he is too!  Love that smile.
Evie on the other hand was not totally sure about the lessons on Day 1.  No tears, but a little apprehension.
Here she is learning the Monkey Crawl.  This became one of her favorite things to do during lessons.
Day 2
Evan continues to improve putting his face in even more during this lesson.
Twins...look at those lobster swim trunks!  So cute!
Evie also was starting to really enjoy herself.  Here she is with her partner Ariel and Miss. Karson practicing how to blow real bubbles in simulation of doing bubbles in the water.
Look how happy she is now after her lesson!
Day 3
Having a little snack while brother is having his lesson.
Just look at Evan go.
The girls in their ruffles.
After swim lesson lunch pow wow!  Our friend's who hosted the lessons, Scott and Sarah, had this amazing upper deck that all the kids enjoyed hanging out and having lunch after lessons.
Day 4
Just look at that thumbs up; he is having so much fun learning to swim.
Evie was doing great too and getting more used to the water every time.  She especially loved all the special names for the swim moves and would come home and talk about them at night with Daddy.
Here she is waiting on the wall while her partner Ariel goes out for her turn with Miss. Karson.
Getting rings- this was another favorite of both of the girls.
Happy girl!
Day 5
The boys learning water safety and how to help someone get out of the water.
Day 6
Evan decided to try wearing goggles on this day.  His buddy Cameron was doing it and it really helped him to be confident in the water.  On Day 6 we borrowed some goggles that were the Schofields, so Evan didn't really get the concept that you could open your eyes and see under water as a little water would sneak in the goggles when we put his face in.  He just really wanted to wear them because his friend had them.  However, he was still progressing.  Here he is doing the Superman back to the step.
Twinsys again...both boys had the same lunch box.
The girls with Ms. Karson.
Look how confident Evie is getting.  I was so proud of her.
Day 7
New goggles I went that morning and got some for both Evan and Evie. :)  Evan was feeling very confident now and enjoyed putting his face in the water.  He got the concept that he could see what was under there when he opened his eyes at the end of this lesson and really on Day 8.
Evie got some too, but hers ended up being more of a fashion accessory.  Like her new belt?
Day 8
Evie with her favorite sister duo, Ariel and Macy.  She sure does love these girls.
Look at Evan now!  What a stud.  How brave and confident he became with the swim lessons.
Evie did remarkable too.  Here she is jumping in the water with Miss. Karson and going under.
Look at the happy girl!
We are very proud of our kids and their progress in swim.  The most important thing is they had so much fun while learning too.  Thank you Miss. Karson!  You were awesome!  Lots of love!
