Eight Months Old

Evan is eight months old today and currently weighs 19 lbs and has enough hair to comb. I love putting water in it and combing it to the side. I think he just looks so handsome! :) Of course I am biased. We could have never imagined how much fun he would bring to our lives. Evan is a true joy! His latest developments are as follows:

-He continues to want to be in the action and enjoys getting into everything. This has become increasingly easier for him now that he can pull himself up and cruise along the furniture, walls, toys, etc. and crawl at record speeds. :) He doesn't have major interest in walking when you hold his hands up and move him towards you, but he definitely enjoys moving at his own speed holding onto things.

-He is eating pretty well, currently chowing on the Level 2 foods. We have tried giving him both puffs and a bitter biscuit, but he is not very interested in these yet. Here he is trying his first bitter biscuit. He will let you know when he doesn't want something and closes his lips real tightly and hits the spoon and makes all the food get on the tray, etc. For awhile there he thought this was a fun game.

***In this picture he had a lot of fun with Prunes. Just a note that he doesn't get this dirty all the time when he eats. :)

-He absolutely loves paper and any other items that resemble them or basically that he can tell are not his toys. He gets so excited and shakes them in the air flapping his hands like crazy.

-Sleep is definitely so much better these days. He usually wakes up once in the middle of the night for a feeding and goes down about 8:30 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. (Jim and I love this) and then ultimately is up for the day at about 7:00 a.m. give or take a little. His naps are going well minus the days Mommy has to run errands and throws off his schedule, he usually naps once in the morning and then once in the afternoon, sometimes still at dinner or after, but this is not very regular. The time for each nap ranges anywhere from a half hour to two hours. However, usually it is closer to an hour or 45 minutes.

-He laughs and talks all the time now saying baba, dada, gaga.

-He is very curious. One of his favorite things is the vacuum. He is so fascinated with it when it is on and just watches me so closely. When he is not in an exersaucer during the vacuuming he tries to touch it and grab the cord and shake it in the air. This will be one of the first chores he gets once he is old enough since he seems to like it so much. :)

-He is bathing in the big boy bath now and enjoys his little seat and playing with toys. It is so much fun to see him splash and swirl the water around. He also brushes his teeth every night. He greatly enjoys chewing on his baby toothbrush.

-He loves all of his toys. Here he is with his first set of Duplex Lego's to play with from Grandma and Grandpa Thompson pushing around the cars in the kitchen. These were the Duplex Lego's that my brother and I played with when I was little.

-We are still walking regularly. He seems to always enjoy getting out and seeing people and the sites around him. Here are some cute shots of him on our walks.

-His new thing is eating straws. They allow Mommy and Daddy time to eat their food. We love them. :)

-He continues to be teething. No more teeth sitings yet, but definitely drools and chews on things from his finger, to various toys, paper, straws, etc.

Thanks again for watching our little boy grown up with us. We can't wait to celebrate his first Easter with him in the next few days.

Love the update! It's so much fun to think about what Jonathan will be doing in about 7 weeks. :) How are Evan's naps these days? Oh, and what bath seat do you use for him? We're looking for one for Jon...

What a sweet boy! We can't wait to get together in September! Actually, we'll be driving up to Oregon in July, so hopefully can stop by and see you guys and the Wisners on the way up!

He is risen indeed!!!
