Proud to annouce the arrival of our daughter...

Evie Joy Knight!

Evie (Hebrew), and its meaning is life. Origin of the name Evie:
Derived from the Hebrew Chava (life), which is from hawwah (life). The name is borne in the Bible by the first woman, "the mother of all the living."

Joy (English, Old French, and Latin origin) it means happiness and joy. Used in the Middle Ages, and made popular in the 17th century under the influence of the Puritans, to whom being "joyful in the Lord" was an important duty. In modern times, it generally signifies the parents' joy in their new-born child, or with the intention of wishing him/her a happy life.

She entered the world on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 12:41 p.m. at 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 inches long. Dad, Mom, and Big Brother are all doing great and loving having Evie join our family. We all feel truly blessed and praise the Lord for our newest little miracle!

Glowing Mommy, smiling with delight at her blessing from above...

and Proud Papa loving his little angel more than he could ever imagine. :)

Here is our first family photo; we were unable to get one in the hospital because they had a policy that no kids under the age of 14 could visit due to the H1N1 flu virus. So this was right after we came home from the hospital. Evan had just woken up from his nap and came downstairs and got to meet Evie. He initially was very excited, but she started crying and then so did he. He tried to hold his composure for a few minutes so we could get this picture. :)

Our beautiful daughter on her first day at home.

Let the sibling love begin...here is Big Brother with his Little Sis! :)

Thank you for all of your love, prayers, and support during this exciting time. More details and pictures to come real soon from The Knight Fab 4! :)

Coming real close to the finish line...

The final stretch is upon us. Here I am at 38 weeks on December 30. The funny thing is I actually thought I might be going into labor that night. I was getting tons of contractions and pain, but she wasn't ready. This is a good thing. We had hoped for a 2010 baby and now we have officially made it. I think she will also appreciate having a birthday a little farther away from the holidays. Nevertheless, we can't wait to meet her and see her beautiful face in just a few short days.

Also, Evan can say baby, sister, and big brother now. :) He loves to kiss Mommy's belly and the other day we caught him walking around lifting up his shirt and rubbing his stomach saying baby. So funny!

Here I am this week at 39 weeks on Monday, January4.

Quick update from the doctor, I saw her yesterday and she is still predicting that Baby Girl will probably come pretty much on the due date or real close to it. We are still right on track and everything is going great. Praise the Lord! So at this point we wait a few more days and enjoy our family of 3 as much as possible. :) Keep you posted! :) Thank you already for all of your prayers and support! Love you all! :)

Evan's 1st Haircut

Evan got his first haircut today at Jack and Jillybeans Salon in Roseville. It was so great. He got to sit in a firetruck, have a little cell phone (A "Cars" cellphone to be exact), and watch Baby Einstein. The other great thing was another little boy was also getting his first haircut at the same time. We had the friendliest stylist named, Miranda. All in all it was a fabulous experience. They even gave Evan a certificate and we received a little envelope with his first locks. This place was recommended by my friend Rachel; thanks Rachel! :)

I think Evan really enjoyed all parts of the experience and found it to even be relaxing. He looks very relaxed in the pictures in my opinion, but who can blame him who doesn't love getting pampered. :)

Here he is at the start, getting his hair watered down.

Then they cut off the first locks.

I love how he is looking at himself in the mirror in this picture.

Doing the top cut.

A little trimming with the clippers, which he got to turn on.

Then getting it evened out in the back.

And the last bit of styling, including some product to help keep down the wispys. :)

Final result with a proud Daddy and Mommy below...such a handsome little boy! We love you Evan! :)

Isn't it funny how we are all wearing stripes, not planned, but fun! :)

Christmas memories!

The Knight family had a wonderful Christmas full of fabulous memories. Here is one of the best, our little guy in his Santa suit on Christmas Day and the only picture that we could get of him smiling, looking at the camera, in front of the tree, and with his hat on all at the same time! Hallelujah! A true Christmas miracle! :)

The holidays started with an early celebration with Grandma Knight and Aunt Alison in Riverside in the beginning of December on the 6th. We had a great time opening presents and watching Evan in action. He started to perfect his opening skill at this gathering. Here he is opening his own gift and also below helping Daddy and Mommy.

Then once Christmas Eve hit he was a pro with unwrapping. First thing we did that day was our family attended our church's Christmas Eve service with my parents. Here are some pictures before we left for the service.

It was a real nice service and Evan came to big church too. All the kids were present - it was chaotic as you can imagine. However, he did so good, they gave all the kids goodie bags (contents included a bag of Fruit Loops- this was his first tasting of the cereal and he loved them eating the whole bag, little toys- Evan got two of the Three Wise Men, and a cool ring). He also got to see his friend Amber and gave her the sweetest hug. Here they are pictured together.

We then met up with the rest of my family at Mimi's where my Grandma treated us to a wonderful dinner. Evan again did fabulous; we were so proud of him. He ate lots of food, especially sweets and was pretty good at entertaining himself through the meal even though it was way past his normal time to eat. Lastly, that evening we went over to my Grandma's house and opened presents. It was a great time of family and fun. Here are some pictures from the festivities.

Helping Grandpa unwrap his present.

Then he thought it would be fun to sit on it.

He also got a really cool ball that lights up and changes colors from Uncle Rhett and Aunt Debra.

Christmas morning started off with an early bang at about 6:15 a.m. or so. Even though Evan totally went to bed late about 10:00 p.m. he woke up super early. Maybe he knew Santa visited. :) We ate breakfast first, this is Evan's normal routine, and then we asked Evan if he wanted to get a present under the tree and he marched right in and grabbed one to open. It was so cute. The best part is that he opened up one of his absolute favorites. We didn't realize it at the time of purchase, but now that he has this new "Cars" obsession, the gift was just perfect. He got the character Mack and Lighting McQueen to play with. Mack actually can shot Lightening out of his big rig. Super fun! However, he was definitely open to the idea that there were additional presents to open and even helped Mommy and Daddy open their gifts. We had such a wonderful morning and look forward to this treasured tradition every year.

Here he is with Mack and Lightening in his Christmas pajamas.

And pictured here again with the toys now in his Santa suit.

Evan watching "Cars" and drinking out of his new Cars sippy cup. The funny thing is that we purchased several "Cars" items not totally planning on having a fanatic on our hands, but it all worked out real well. He also got a few Elmo things, which he enjoys but has placed closer to second or third. Thomas the Tank Engine is in there somewhere too.

At about noon we got a visit from Pops and GrandDeb Knight who showered Evan and Mommy and Daddy, along with Baby Girl, with a few more presents. We had a lot of fun with them. Evan was so excited to open more gifts and especially loved the new rocket vehicle they got him. He could barely wait for assembly to take place. We had a real nice visit with lunch. So delightful!

Lastly, we headed to my parents house for Christmas dinner and yet again a few more presents. At this point, Evan, did have a nap, but woke up early and was cranky. I think the mix of fancy food, sweets, a different schedule, and lots of activity all added up. He did pretty good at the get together, but had a break down at dinner and only wanted Daddy to hold him and play. The good news is Mommy was able to eat in a little peace, while Daddy tried to calm our little dude. After the breakdown and we had dinner for the most part. :) We opened more presents, which Evan was excited about. At this point he was a gift unwrapping pro and was really getting into the opening.

This picture below shows his mood for this party. Gotta love it! :)

Here is Evan getting in to the action.

He really liked this one below.

Then here are pictures of everyone watching Evan. Little ones are such entertainment. :) Next year he will have to share the spot light with his sister.

Rhett and Debra after opening some gifts.

Lastly, here are some great photos taken by my sister-in-law, Debra, of our little man that evening. We hope you and your families had a wonderful Christmas and were able to celebrate the true meaning rejoicing in our Savior and his birth.

We wish you and your families a blessed New Year too! Love you all and Happy 2010!

Christmas Dance

A little gift from Evan for Christmas...a special dance. Enjoy!

Visit with Santa

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Just wanted to report that we saw Santa live and well yesterday. However, his helpers had said that his reindeer were slowing him down as we arrived at the Roseville Galleria to visit with him bright and early 8:00 a.m. his scheduled arrival. This was so Jim could still get to work and we might beat any crazy lines. Nevertheless, Santa didn't arrive until 8:30 a.m. We were a little disappointed with his timeliness. However, we did finally get to see him. Evan as you can imagine was somewhat excited as we waited in line. However, very antsy. Then when we actually made it to the front of the line to see him and sit on his lap he didn't want anything to do with that. Our back up plan was for us all to sit together. So here we are...

We hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas! God Bless!

Below is a picture of Evan entertaining himself in line with a water bottle. :)

Baby Girl's Room

Jim slaved away making preparations for Baby Girl Knight starting way back in October! Evan tried to be his little helper as you can see from the pictures below. Here are some shots of all of his work.

Before...

The transformation begins...

After...
Great job Daddy! We are so proud of all your hard work...it looks beautiful!

Then the furniture finally arrived, December 11, and my two boys worked hard at putting that together. We had special help from a great friend, Taylor, to help bring it upstairs. Thank you Taylor! However, the assembly was all Jim and Evan. :)

And now for the final product...ta da!

Her room is now ready and waiting for her arrival! :)
