Playing at the park

The kids and I recently had a wonderful time hanging out with our buds the Moons on Thursday, June 10.  It has been awhile since hanging out so it was great to be together again.  As always Jenn got some amazing pictures of our time together and I wanted to share them.

During our visit we went for a walk and visited the local ducks that live right next to our house.  They are very friendly and love a free meal.  Brittney and Evan had a blast feeding them.
Then we headed to the neighborhood park.  It is amazing to see all the new things Evan enjoys doing.  He is growing up very quickly.  He can now go on the big slide all by himself.  The picture below is cute, you can see Brittney cheering him on.
He loved this slide, and went down a lot.  His favorite was going down on his tummy. :)
After the slide the next big thing was the wood chips.  The kids were enjoying throwing them in the air like snow.  Jenn captured some fabulous pictures of this activity.  First they picked up the wood chips as seen below.
Then they threw them in the air!
Then they went back for more. :)
The girls were just sleeping/hanging out in their strollers during the fun.
The final highlight of our big walk was that the kids got to run home.
This was good for the children and the mommies as we hoped for nice long naps in the afternoon. :)  Love you Moons!

Trains, trains, trains...

Evan was gifted this generous set of trains from our next door neighbor's grandson.  He has been loving having the opportunity to put the tracks together and push all the engines around.  He already had a love for trains, but is enjoying them even more these days since he now has this toy. :)
Here he is with Grandpa Thompson, constructing a new track.
Trains aren't only for the little boys, but the big ones too! :)

Daddy daughter time

Below are some adorable pictures I captured during our recent trip to Southern California of my handsome husband and darling daughter together.  I just had to share them. :)

Five Months Old

Evie turned five months old on Wednesday, June 9.  She continues to be our little princess and melts our hearts with her adorable smile.
To date she is a thriving five month old doing so many new things which include:

-Chewing on anything she can get into her mouth.  She especially loves her rings, all teething toys, Mommy and Daddy's fingers, her fingers, her taggie blanket, and she has recently been using pacifiers to chew on too.  Those teeth are coming soon.
-She continues to eat well, about six meals a day and one at night.  However, with this we also still see lots of spit up. :)
-She is growing like a weed fitting into a variety of clothing sizes depending on the brand, but definitely is wearing most six month items, but can still fit into some of her 3 month stuff. :)
-She loves rolling around on the floor and can be found in a new position almost immediately after laying her down.
-Playing with her feet is a new pass-time.  She is having fun trying to touch them, especially when she doesn't have socks during this summer season.
-She is getting stronger and is trying to sit up on her own now too.  Shouldn't be too long for this milestone.  She practices holding herself up throughout the day while we hold her or when she is in the swing.  She also is standing up more while you hold her.  She doesn't seem to want to do this as much as Evan did at her age, but she is getting there.
-Her brother is one of her favorite people in the world. They have been having a blast giving each other kisses, she tries to get his nose and then he makes a funny face because he has been slobbered.  Priceless and never gets old!  I love this picture of the two of them below.
-Evie notices a quite a few things now and can be found grabbing for your plate/food, silverware, napkins, pretty much anything that is nearby.
-Like Evan, Evie also prefers to ride in her stroller looking forward and gets very squirmy if she is put in the stroller with her car seat.
-She also continues to like her Ergo carrier.
-She is enjoying playing in her exersaucers now too.
-She loves so many of her toys at five months and it is awesome to be able to watch her try to figure out how they work.  Development is amazing!
-She is sleeping pretty good for both nap and nighttime.  She takes most naps in her swing or bed and nighttime rest is happening in her bed.  However, she can also be found in our bed during the middle of the night when she needs to be fed. :)
-She continues to blow bubbles with her mouth and make a mooter boat sound.  The best thing about this is that if you start doing it first, she will mimic you.  Too cute!
-She is also sitting at the dinning room table with us.
-Evie loves to laugh and has many tickle spots. She has the best little giggle. It is so much fun to hear her laugh.

Here are some other fun random pictures of our little sweetie.
Evie is such a joy to be around and when she flashes you her smile it is heaven!  We love you little girl; stop growing up so fast! :)

Evie's girlfriend Brooklynn

Today we got to hang out with our long time friend, Jennifer Moon and her two beautiful daughters, one of which is almost the same age as Evie.  Her name is Brooklynn Rose; she is three months old and was born Feb. 11.  Almost two months to the day after Evie.  This was the first time we have been able to hang out and get a few pictures of the girls together.  We had fun snapping away at the two beauties.  I just know they are going to have so much girly fun in the future!
I love how they are posing similar in this picture below.  Such sweeties!
Good times friends can't wait to play together again real soon! :)

Folsom Zoo

As promised here is the post on the Folsom Zoo.  We visited on May 29th and lucked out as it was Family Fun Day and everyone got to get in for free.  It was a huge savings, since the park was normally around $3. :)  Gotta love it, every penny counts!

Here are is a picture of me with my babies in front of the zoo sign.
The zoo was small but, very impressive.  They had two tigers,
three bears,

...oh wait, these aren't real bears- Evan looked so furious in this picture, I got confused, :)

lots of free roaming peacocks (this one was out in the parking lot),
lamas, wolves, deer, several types of birds, feral cats, donkeys, monkeys, and coyotes.  I think that covers most of the animals in this zoo.  We were super impressed.  The really neat thing is that all of them were rescued animals who were unable to live in the wild now.

One of Evan's favorite parts of the zoo was this shaded area where he could run around.  It truly is the simplest things that make children happy.

I leave you with a recommendation, if you haven't been to the Folsom Zoo you should go real soon.  Such a fun event for you and the little ones- and very affordable. :)

Birthday Fun

I had an amazing 31st birthday on Friday, May 28th and also got to celebrate during the weekend a bit too.  Not too shabby if I do say so myself.  My family and friends were amazing and I truly felt so loved.

The day before my birthday, Jim came home with some special birthday balloons for me from the kids and a fun birthday banner.  It was such a nice surprise.  (Note, one of the birthday balloons was from our super awesome friends the Wisners.)
Then when I woke up I was given my gifts from the family.  Jim and the kids all got me the sweetest cards.  They were precious!  My big surprise was a new watch.  You will see it in most of the following pictures.  It is really cool and my favorite color pink!  Thank you family!  I love it!

On my official birthday we got to spend the morning with my fabulous friend, Natalie and Evan's buddy, Tyler.

The boys had a really good time at the play place in the mall.  We got some great pictures of them playing together.  This was a challenge as they were moving every minute we were there.

Then we walked over to B.J.'s for a delicious lunch and a birthday Pizookie.  The kids especially loved this part! :)

That night Jim, me and the kids went out to dinner at Food Newtwork's star, Guy Fieri's restaurant in Sacramento, Tex Wasabis (a Rock N' Roll Sushi BBQ restaurant).  It was my first time there; we had a nice time.

Here are Evan and I with the restaurant's cool fish rider statue.
Here is a fun family photo at the restaurant.

Evan got to have another dessert at this restaurant.  An ice cream sundae with crushed fortune cookies.  Yummy!

Lastly, a picture of me and Evie.  Matching in pink.
Finally that night, we visited my parents for some more family birthday fun.

The best part of my birthday celebration is the festivities continued throughout the weekend with a trip to the Folsom Zoo (I will do a separate post for this), a luxurious mani/pedi while Jim watched the kidos, and a special birthday cake from Jim's Dad and Deb on Sunday.  Here we are eating the chocolate goodness.  Again, Evan loving it!  Let's just say he made out pretty well over the weekend too! :)

Thank you again to all my amazing family and friends for a super special day!  Your cards, emails, phone calls, and Facebook greetings truly made for the best 31st birthday I could have asked for.  Love you all!
