On Saturday, April 26, we took a trip to San Luis Obispo with our friends Chris and Lalani. It was a wonderful visit that included a fabulous baby shower. The time was amazing and we had so much fun catching up with friends, eating delicious food, and defintely taking part in lots of laughter and fun. This all took place because of the sweet idea of my former boss and friend at Cuesta College, Barbara. She and I are pictured below.
She then quickly involved my other awesome friends and former co-workers pictured from left to right, Elaine, Linda and Leslie. A really special treat was that even some of my friends that I used to work with that don't live in the area anymore were there in spirit celebrating our little guy- Julie and Jill you two are the best! Our family was blessed with so many nice things for our son. By the way, he had a great time too! :) Thank you all so very much!
We also got to celebrate with my good friend Carolyn and her daughter Lauren who live in the area. It was fantastic to be able to visit with each of them in person at the party, and Lauren was my little helper with all of the gifts. I couldn't have opened them without her assistance- thanks Lauren! :) Also a special congratulations to Carolyn and Gary on the blessing of their new baby due in October! Yeah for the Weyel family!
Lalani and I are pictured below at the shower enjoying some of the delicious chocolates that said "It's a Boy!" and the other had a baby bottle. So cute!
During the party, the boys all went out and had lunch at Applebees. Hosted by Elaine's husband Don. Overall the day was fabulous and we couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Everyone was so very generous and kind. Thank you again friends!!! Jim even got to get in on the fun with the gifts as we saved this one for when we got back home since it was a little too large to travel with. It was a Pack 'n Play from Chris and Lalani- so cool!
Before we left San Luis Obispo, we were able to visit some of our favorite sites and of course get our baby boy his very own Cal Poly San Luis Obispo outfit and hat, matching with one that we got daddy of course. Oh so adorable! :)
We also drove through the SLO campus and got to admire the new buildings. We couldn't believe all the growth. The shot below is of the new dorms called Poly Canyon Village which will open in fall of 2008. Maybe our son will get to experience them one day.
We also stopped in Arroyo Grande for lunch before taking the final drive home and got some nice pictures with Chris and Lalani and our new friend the rooster as Lalani so beautifully points out below! This guy had a few other friends. Some which were other roosters and I think there also might have been a few hens. They were a nice bunch and pretty photogentic.
