Eight Months Old

Evie turned eight months old on Thursday, September 9.  To give you an example of how fast the days have been going and how quickly the kids have been growing, on this special day, September 9th, the kids and I were helping to set up for MOPS at church and one of my friends asked me how old Evie was now.  I said, "She will be eight months on the September 9th."  My friend said, "Well isn't today September 9th."  I said, "Well I guess it is...she is officially eight months now!  Wow!  So funny!"  Maybe you had to be there, but it is a true story and made me laugh. :)

So here is what you have been waiting for...drum roll please!!!

Evie's latest accomplishments at eight months.  She has been doing some amazing things and weighs a little over 18 pounds.  We weighed her at Evan's 2 year old check up on August 28.

-STANDING- She absolutely loves to stand as you can see above.  She pulls up on everything.  She is getting more and more stable each day.  She has entered the phase of getting a little bumped up when she loses her balance, but is pretty resilient and tough like her brother.  She has a little bit of interest in taking a few steps (we will call a mini-cruiser), but I think that will develop more this month.
Here she is again standing.  This is her favorite toy to pull up on.  It was Evan's too.
-CRAWLING- Evie can crawl, however, she gets frustrated easily and wants you to help her get to specific locations.  She is however, very mobile, but is happy and content in not going to far at the moment. :)  Her preference at this point is to just stand up.

-SITTING- Eve sits up SO STURDY now.  Look at this big girl.  She can get into a sitting position from pretty much any situation and angle.
-FIRST TOOTH- Evie got her first tooth on Monday, August 23rd the tooth slit appeared and has been coming out every sense.  Here is a picture of what she looks like with the tooth.
Here it is up close and personal.  Such a pretty pearly white!  She continues to teeth (suck on her fingers, fuss, and drool a little), so more teeth are probably right around the corner.
-TONGUE- She is having a blast playing with her tongue and feeling her new tooth.  Here she is sporting her Cal Poly SLO onesie too. :)
-SWINGING- She is now done with the baby swing.  Here is one last picture of her enjoying the activity while munching on some crinkly paper, one of her favorite past times.
-HAIR- Evie's hair is growing in so well.  It's amazing how much more she has than Evan at this age.  Mommy is especially loving being able to clip fun barrettes in her hair.  The one below is a little princess crown.  Who comes up with this stuff?!?!  I love it!
Of course here is the little princess giving us one of her priceless smiles.
-PLAYING- Evie is a big fan of toys.  But, as I said last month she really needs variety.  She doesn't like to play with the same thing very long and also enjoys different environments.  We change rooms and try to go outside and do things often to keep Evie happy.  Also, Evie is enjoying playing with Evan a lot these days.  However, Evan isn't always so happy when Evie destroys his train tracks or grabs the toy he is playing with.  Nevertheless, I really think he is becoming a better sharer. :)  Baby steps for both of them in this area.  Here they are playing with the exersaucer together and Grandma and Grandpa Thompson's house.
Here enjoying Lego's together
And in this picture sharing a sweet kiss.  Evan loves his sister so much.  He really likes to call her Baby.  It cracks Jim and I up.  He does call her Evie sometimes, but it sounds like E E. :)
-HELPER- Evie loves to get into everything and explore these days.  Here she is playing with the laundry basket.  Someday I look forward to her really helping me with with the laundry. :)
-SHOPPING CART- Evie is now riding in the cart when we go grocery shopping.  This picture is actually of her second time riding in the basket on September 4.  I didn't have my camera with me the first time.
Here is what the whole family looked like.  Evan was having fun with his choo choo in this picture.
-HIGH CHAIR- Evie is also sitting in high chairs at restaurants now.  She did it for the first time on September 2 at Chili's with me and my parents.  She enjoyed the view and kept pretty entertained during the experience.  We brought a variety of items to try to keep her busy.
Evan ate real good that night too and was wanting to pose.  Here he is munching away on his corn dog.
-EATING- Evie has been eating like a champ.  You can see my separate post for more details, but her first attempt at vegis was on August 21 and she dined on sweet potatoes.  Overall, she is enjoying food and being able to partake in eating with the rest of the family at the table instead of just sitting there and munching, chewing and sucking on random objects (spoons, straws, lids, you name it, anything to keep her entertained.).

-SLEEPING-Our little girl has been sleeping pretty good.  She continues to have a morning and afternoon nap.  The morning nap, always gets messed up a bit because of activities and errands, but the afternoon nap is pretty solid.  She also has been going to bed pretty consistently at about 8:30 p.m./9:00 p.m.  She then wakes up about midnight for a feeding and still will usually wake up lately at about 3:00.  She isn't hungry at this point, I think it is her teeth.  Poor baby.  Hopefully, she will sleep through the night soon.  Really can't complain to much, the hard part is that Evan is waking up at about 5:00 a.m.  We are working on this and training him that this is too early to get up. :)

-NOISES and TALKING- Evie can say Momma and said it for the first time on Monday, August 30.  I was so proud and even got it on video.  She has been saying Dada for awhile now, so it was amazing how Momma just came right out.  She was doing this mum mum thing with her mouth all day and then...presto.  It was like she was working up to it, practicing the movement and feel with her mouth.  She can also say Baa Baa.  As far as sounds, she has been growling.  It is pretty funny.  And lately she has been making this loud sound when she wants something or when someone takes a toy from her.  I guess I would describe it as a feisty noise telling others...that's mine. Silly girl!  Her personality is coming out and we love it.  :)
As you can see Evie is our little super star and growing with flying colors.  We love this little girl very much.  She makes us so proud and we feel extremely blessed to be her Mommy and Daddy!  We love you Evie!  Way to go on 8 Months! :)

Evan is Two!!!

Man, did we have to work for this picture.  We think this is a glimpse of what 2 is going to be about for Evan- lots and lots of energy, passion, noise, fun, and opinions. :)  The bottom picture was actually taken with him running into the background and falling on the ground.  Oh, I am sure Sears loves us! :)

Our fantastic, fun loving, handsome little boy turned two, on Saturday, August 7.  This post is a little delayed because life has been crazy lately.  But we want to note our amazing son's milestones to date.

At two, Evan is:
-The best boy we could have ever hoped or dreamed of!
-He is hilarious and fun loving.
-He loves to run, jump, dance, spin, climb, flip upside down, wrestle, play chase, walk backwards, and go through tunnels.
-He can say tons of words and is beginning to talk in sentences, however, his pronunciation isn't the best.  He usually requires a translator (a.k.a., Mom and Dad)  But, it is getting better every day.
-He loves to give kisses and hugs to anyone who will take them.  They usually involve tackling in someway.
-He really enjoys friends and has a great time playing with all of his buddies.
-He can be a little possessive and doesn't like people to take his toys, but who does really. :)
-He sometimes cries when Mom and Dad leave, he loves his Mommy and Daddy very much!
-His favorite toys are cars (especially his Cars figurines), trains (Thomas and friends are his top picks), planes, balls, and bikes or anything to ride on.
-His favorite movies are Cars and Thomas and Friends and The Great Discovery.
-His favorite cartoons are Caillou, Wiggles, Thomas, Mater Tall Tales, Curious George, and Super Why to name a few.
-He really enjoys dancing, music, and singing.
-Trains, planes, cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles all vehicle are wonderful in his eyes.  He loves to point them out on the road too.
-He is all boy and not afraid to get dirty in the backyard or in the sandbox.
-He is also pretty tough and if he gets a scrape will usually just jump back up; if there are tears it is nothing a quick kiss on the boo boo can't help.
-He is a good sleeper and goes down about 8:30 p.m., yet a very early riser (he enjoys waking up at about 5:00 a.m. - we are working on this).  He still has an afternoon nap that lasts a couple hours which Mommy loves.
-Evan will sometimes try new food, but usually likes to stick with his favorites consisting of noodles, cheese, peanut butter, fruit, bread, any sweets like candy and cookies. :)
-He enjoys books and loves to hear his favorites over and over again
-He is the best big brother and has a huge heart for his little sister. One of his favorite things is to make her laugh.
-Evan loves life and all of his family and friends very much.

Here he is with Daddy at his Two Year Old Well Check Up with our doctor, on Friday, August 27.  At this appointment he did amazing and the cutest thing was he can say our Doctor's name.  We practiced saying, "Hi Dr. Doan"  He was doing it all week, but of course chickened out when we actually got there, but it was still very cute and we told the doctor.  He also was blown away by our doctor's magic tricks.  Evan thought they were super cool.  At this appointment Evan weighed 27 pounds and 5.7 ounces.  He is 35.5 inches tall.  The doctor estimated that he would probably be about 5'10''.  We were pleased and happy that he is predicted to have a little more height than Mommy and Daddy. :)  We were so proud of Evan at this appointment because he also had to get some shots.  He did so well.  It was hard for Mommy and Daddy too.  It was weird knowing that he was aware of the shots this time.  Poor guy.  He was brave and very happy to enjoy a dum dum lollipop that Mommy brought after the expereince.

We sure do love this little boy and are so proud to call him son!  You have given us the most amazing 2 years Evan and we look forward to the exciting times ahead.  Thank you Lord for this gift named Evan! :)

Saturday Morning Park Day

Last Saturday, September 9, was the first Saturday our family has had to ourselves in a long time and we decided to go out and have some fun together.  We headed out to Grainte Bay Park and enjoyed the lovely weather, the fun playground equipment, and the beautiful forest like feel of the area.  Here is a picture of Evie in the swing.  She was having a wonderful time being pushed by her Daddy.
Daddy was enjoying it too! :)
Evan found a nice stick and was able to run and play on all sorts of new playground equipment at the park.  He is doing so well and can climb and jump like such a big boy.
Here are Evan and I riding horses together.  He loved this too and even made the horse sound as we rode like the wind! :)  Yee haw...he also enjoyed saying this phrase.  Gotta love this boy! :)

More Water Fun!

Our family got the chance to go swimming at Scott and Debbie Burrill's home and hang out with them and the Wisners too on Saturday, September 4.  We had a blast.  Evie enjoyed riding and chewing on this new pool toy and wearing her first bikini (thanks Angela). :)
Evan enjoyed jumping in the water over and over again.  No fear from this boy!  Their pool also had this awesome water fall feature and Evan loved walking under it.  Picture a car wash...this was Evan and the water fall. :)

Thank you Burrill Family for having all of us over.  Can't wait to get together again real soon. :)

Food is Yummy :)

Evie is enjoying the new world of food that has entered her life.  Her first real meal that included something other than milk and rice cereal took place on Saturday, August 21.  She dined on sweet potatoes and loved them.  Here she is munching away.  The spoon was pretty delicious too!
The she got to try peas for the first time on Sunday, August 29.  These were okay.  She ate them, but you could tell they were not as yummy as the sweet potatoes to her taste buds.  Who can blame her really?!?!
She has also dinned on carrots, squash, bananas, apples, and oatmeal to date.  Here she is on Tuesday, September 7 enjoying some carrots at Rubios with her cool new pink highchair cover and super snazzy matching spoon that allows for one handed feeding.
Besides, her vegis and fruits, Evie has enjoyed a few snack items too.  She attempted a bitter biscuit, no pictures of this, a Baby Mum-Mum Rice Husk, banana flavored Puffs, and some cheese balls.

Pictured below she is enjoying the rice husk snack for the first time on September 7.  She doesn't I think totally enjoy the bland flavor, but more the fun crunch sound. :)
We also have a picture of her dinning on the Puffs on Sunday, September 12 for the first time.
I love how the puff is stuck tot he middle of her hand. :)

Here she is with the cheese balls.  She couldn't get enough of these on September 13.  She made a nice cheesey mess on her face, hands and bib.
More delicious food to come baby girl...enjoy the ride and Bon Appetite!

You talkin' to me?!?!

On August 25, Evan, Evie and I, along with Natalie and Tyler went to the Fountains to try to cool off.  It was one of our SUPER HOT DAYS in Roseville and any opportunity for comfort and a little time for the kids to play was very much desired.  Evan was having a blast running around with all the kids in the water play area as you can see below in the pictures.
Notice the kid in the red, white and blue shorts?  Well he was four we found out while talking to his mom before the fountains turned on.  Here are he and Evan playing in the same area.  He was a real nice boy and his mom was making sure he was being kind.
Nevertheless, at one point during the fun he decided to stand directly on one of the fountains.  Evan, wanted that fountain too and was trying to show his interest as seen in the picture below.
Evan didn't want to budge and the kid wasn't going to intimidate him.  He just stood there with his foot in that position looking at the ground.  All of a sudden, the four year old decided enough with this and...
The best is that I got it on camera.  There were no more pictures after this moment as Evan started crying and the older boy got disciplined by his mother sitting on the bench in the picture.  Oh children!  They do the things we all want to do sometimes. :)  The four year old did come over and apologize for getting in Evan's face, however, Evan was told he needed to give him some room too and wait his turn. :)

All, I know is we have one tough little 2 year old on our hands...he is going to tell you what he wants and be bold!  I gotta say I love this little brave son of mine.

You know you wish you had this outfit?!?!

Evan decided to help pick out his pajamas last Thursday, September 9.  He wore all of his favorites, including a too small 18 month old long sleeve Thomas the Train night shirt that he found in one of our storage bins.  He used this item as a nice overcoat.  He also had on some Lightening McQueen flip flops that were too large for him.  He was quite the looker that evening and very proud of it!  I mean, look at this guy, soooooooooo handsome.  Especially, with all of his cool looks and poses. :)
You Go Evan!!!
