Nine Months Old

Evan was nine months old on Thursday, May 7. He continues to be the joy of our lives and the best boy any parents could ever hope for!

Here are some of his latest accomplishments:

-He can push his toy dump truck around the house as well as ride on it just like a big boy. He loves this freedom and looks so adorable with his little walk. Here are two lvideos of him in action and a picture.



-He has recently started standing all by himself for a few seconds at a time. He gets playing with a toy and will just not hold on. He is so brave!

-He continues to talk all the time and can be heard saying dada, baba, lala, gaga and now a little bit of a grrrr. Still no mama, hopefully soon! :) I was hoping he might surprise me on Mother's Day, but no luck. :)

-We also have been working on baby sign language. He enjoys the sign to eat the most and always laughs when I do it after we say the prayer for our food.

-Basically Evan gets into everything. We have nothing on the tables anymore or anything in reach that Evan can't have. He loves the shutters, cabinets, all the good stuff that he can get hurt on. Baby proofing we are here! Luckily the house came with cabinet locks! :) Thank goodness.

-He has started to bite and when he gets excited bites our shoulders. We are working on trying to not have him do this, but every time you say "No" he laughs. It is hard not to laugh yourself after that because it is so adorable.

-He continues to love bath time and really enjoys his toys. When he hears the water start he practically wants to climb over the edge of the tub and jump in and he also wants to feel the water as it comes out of the spout. He has a boat, fancy stacker cups (from Grandma Knight- he loves these :) ), and some awesome squirt toys. We all enjoy playing with him in the tub. After every bath he gets his hair combed (what he has :)) and then he brushes his teeth. He loves this part! He can chew on his brush for several minutes.

-His sleeping has been awesome. Naps are pretty consistent; one in the morning about 10:00 a.m. and then another one in the afternoon at about 2:00 or 3:00. Bedtime is usually at 8:30 p.m. and then he pretty much always wakes up at 7:00 a.m. We still sometimes wake up once at night, but have been sleeping through the night so much more, which is fabulous. Also he lays down to sleep really nicely too! Praise the Lord!

-He eats well, except still no puffs after he got sick, we keep trying hopefully he will like them again one of these days. He enjoys pretty much all fruit and vegis; not a big fan of the dinner meals, but will eat them for a little bit, but usually doesn't finish the jar. I don't totally blame him because they actually don't smell that good. I guess the main purpose is to just get him used to the flavors. Our doctor told us that he could be on all table food if we wanted, but ultimately he has many choices at this age. Since he still isn't a huge fan of putting food in his mouth like Puffs or Wagon Wheels, or Biscuits, we will probably still continue on the baby food for awhile longer and just keep trying on the finger foods.

-He loves to play and has actually figured out how to operate his Sit and Stand and Laugh and Play toy and puts the little balls through the obstacles.



-He also greatly enjoys emptying his toy basket and gets great joy from all things that shake and rattle. We recently got him a toy band set that has shakers and bells. He loves it!

-He adores little kids and people and enjoys smiling and playing peekaboo. He continues to thoroughly enjoy playing peekaboo on the stairs with Mommy and Daddy and gets so excited and practically jumps out of your arms in excitement. He especially loves hanging out weekly with his best buds Tyler and Brittney as pictured below.

-He also has learned to wave, not always at the right time, but he loves to do it and gets real excited in the process.

-I would say one of the biggest things for Evan is that he just doesn't want to sit still. He has to keep moving!

-He loves cruising on the couch and going back and forth.

-He has transitioned from enjoying all of his baby toys in a big boy way. He loves to stand at his swing and grab at the fish and play with the beads on the tray. He also pushes the swing back and forth. The bouncer provides another big boy treat as he stands at the edge of this toy and plays with all the toys that dangle down. His play mat is yet another attraction that he uses to stand and support himself. This one is not as sturdy and there have been a few falls, but luckily he is getting used to stumbling a little and there is cushion around this item. :)

-He enjoys standing at his high chair too and playing with the chair straps, basically he enjoys playing with every thing that has straps and can be found playing with his car seat, the baby swing, the baby bouncer, his stroller, you name it, if there is a strap he is there!


-Evan loves the birds at my parents house and enjoys getting a hold of the cage and shaking it with all his strength.
