Evan had a very merry first Christmas and was able to see all of his family during this special time of year. He also enjoyed the many decorations and preparations for the big day. Here are pictures of Evan enjoying the decor at our house.
The family celebrations began with Jim's mom and sister visiting on the weekend before Christmas, December 19 -22. We spent time together shopping, eating, looking at Christmas lights and of course opening presents.
Then Evan celebrated Christmas with Kim's Grandma on Christmas Eve. We all went to Black Angus for dinner and then back to her place for gift giving and dessert.
Christmas Day was enjoyed with a new tradition of opening up gifts with just the three of us at our very own home. It was wonderful and a great time of togetherness and fun as we dressed in our new pajamas. Something Kim wanted us to do. :) We also read the Christmas Story to Evan. We really wanted him to know that this special day was important because it was celebrating the birthday of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Later on in the day we prepared our first Christmas dinner and used our china for the first time. We've had it for over seven years, so it was quite thrilling. Kim's parents and brother and sister-in-law came over and enjoyed the meal of Orange Glazed Cornish Game Hens and other traditional holiday dishes. We then opened a few more gifts and had some dessert.
Last but certainly not least Jim's Dad and Deb came over for some appetizers, more dessert and gifts. Evan I think was pretty overwhelmed by the day, but truly, had a fantastic first Christmas. He especially loved eating the ribbons and bows.
The popular gift of the year was the piano. Here is Evan the day after Christmas with all of them. They were each a little different. I guess we all hope Evan will be a music prodigy one day. Gotta love it- he does!

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Happy 2009! We'll have to find some time to catch up soon. :-)
